Host a cooking party to learn a new technique with a group of friends; get kids cooking with a food-centric birthday party; bring a private class to your own home to hone your skills; or attend an open event to learn and make new food-loving friends. Julia's Rooted Kitchen can bring lessons and fun to you anywhere in the DC metro area.

The cooking class helped bring us together as a community while making delicious food. Julia taught us some really useful skills... She also made the whole process so much fun and feel totally doable for us to replicate on our own later.

Spring Cooking Classes

Get your hands dirty learning some new skills and having fun in the kitchen with the Spring Cooking Class series. Classes are all hands-on and will end with the group sitting down to enjoy what we've made together.

Cooking Party

What could be more fun than having friends over for a cooking class in the comfort of  your own home? Snack on seasonal treats while I teach you and your friends how to make fresh pasta, can tomatoes, or whip up easy and impressive meals. Classes are customized, so they range in size and scope. Cooking parties can celebrate special events (birthdays! showers!) or just be a great excuse to get together with friends in the kitchen.

Kids & Family Cooking

Can't keep your kid out of the kitchen? Then don't! Get your kid in the mix with age-appropriate cooking classes that will teach them the skills to work safely and successfully in the kitchen. Kids classes can be part of birthday parties, or held as stand-alone events. Depending on the age, classes can be kid-only or involve parents, too.

PRIVATE CLASSES

If you’re looking to build up your kitchen confidence and learn how to cook healthy seasonal meals, consider private classes. Maybe you’re overwhelmed by the amount of kale coming out of your garden and need some new ideas. Or maybe you’re just looking for help getting a few dinner party-worthy recipes under your belt. Scheduled as a singular class or a regular monthly date, you’ll get hands-on guidance in your own kitchen and turn out great meals at the end of each class.

Home Ec House Parties

Did you miss out on Home Economics? Don't worry! There's still time to learn to hem your pants, bake a pie, and so much more. For a one-day class, mix-and-match your choice of one sewing lesson and one cooking lesson. We'll supply materials, snacks, and hands-on instruction for you and up to 9 friends.
